Ever wondered what it is like to go through a spiritual direction session? Feel a little nervous about getting “trapped” into a process or a person? Not to worry!
In meeting with a spiritual director, it is usual practice that the first session is a FREE consultation that allows the director and prospective directee to have an initial sense as to whether or not the direction relationship would be a good one. The consultation usually takes place in a 50 minute period, and at the end, the director and the directee make a mutual decision as to whether or not to continue.
If the director and the directee agree to pursue a direction relationship, they agree to meet for three sessions and then to re-assess whether or not the relationship is working as both had expected. At that point, either or both may decide not to pursue the relationship.
There is a charge for spiritual direction, but no one is turned away because of lack of funds. The fee structure is also discussed at the initial consultation.
Spiritual direction sessions can take place face-to-face at a mutually agreed upon site OR can be done on SKYPE.
