Simplicity

Originally posted on December 20, 2008

The invitation to simplicity is a wholistic response to the presence of God in our lives. Simplicity happens when I realize that my whole being is in God and that I have no need for anything else to support my life. The presence of God puts all things into perspective and suddenly I begin to realize that I don’t have to do all of the things the world is telling me to do. I can be quiet. I can regulate my schedule. I can live within my means. I can eat to live rather than live to eat. I can enjoy my friends without being consumed by them. I don’t have to own every gadget in sight, rather, I can be free to live with what I need. Simplicity is a way of life that allows us the freedom to fully enjoy God’s creation and the abundant life we have in Christ.
