Lenten “Breather”

One of the meanings of the term “sabbath” is to “take a breather.”  In Genesis, God breathes into humans the breath of life.  After the Fall, it becomes Satan’s mission to make us breathless by stealing, through activity, the very life given to us by God.

As I processed my own transition right now, it became evident to me that I needed a “breather.”  During Lent I will continue with my work at St. Anthony and with my spiritual direction sessions, but I am not committing to anything else.  I am taking this time for Scripture, prayer and reflection.  I am praying that this time will be a physical, emotional and spiritual time of renewal and repletion.

I ask for your prayers.
